Is feedback a problem in your organization? Perhaps there’s a “culture of nice,” where people rarely say the hard stuff.
If your managers are like most of us, they’ve never received training in how to give effective feedback and they dread it. They aren’t sure how to weave together and deliver the different messages running through their minds. Or maybe managers in your organization were skilled at giving feedback in person, but now, with most employees working from home, managers feel conflicted.
Or you may face a hidden but common problem: unconscious bias
There may be unconscious bias in your performance reviews, such that white men are seen as having the most potential and inadvertently receive the most helpful coaching and strongest reviews. If you look around and most of the people being promoted into management roles are white and male, unconscious bias is a likely culprit.
Therese can help.
As a consultant, Therese will work with you to identify the crux of the problem and co-create solutions that are tailored to your organization’s objectives and culture. She can help you weave the disparate threads of your team into something stronger and more successful.
Therese employs a three step process
STEP 1
Assessment
The first step is to assess what’s not working and why. Therese uses individual interviews and focus groups to identify both trouble spots and bright spots, along with an evaluation of recent performance reviews and your organization’s current systems for feedback
STEP 2
Co-created solutions
The next step is to identify strategies and solutions that won’t just sit in a binder but will actually be used. Based on her research and assessment, Therese will propose strategies to your leadership team, then work with key individuals to modify these strategies to fit your teams. The result: a bespoke solution that’s realistic, attainable, and aligned with your top objectives.
STEP 3
Training
If it’s appropriate, Therese will also design a training course that reflects the changes you’re making. She can train your managers on how to give better feedback and your employees on how to seek feedback and receive feedback well.
